Wat Traimit

Wat Traimit

Wat Traimitr Witthayaram was known initially as Wat Sam Chin Tai. Its pavilion stuns visitors with its intricate architectural and artistic details. It is where the world-famous Golden Statue, officially titled Phra Phuttha Maha Suwana Patimakon, is enshrined. The statue is made entirely of pure gold, weighing 5.5 tons—the largest in the world according to the Guinness Book of World’s Records. It was estimated to be built during the Sukhothai Dynasty. The Statue holds immense historical, artistic and spiritual value to the Thai people, and is a must-see for tourists who seek to educate themselves in Thai heritage.
