Lumpini Park
Lumphini Park, called in short as “Suan Lum,” is the first public park in Thailand and the largest one in Bangkok with more than half a million square meters of land. The Bangkokians’ green lung was initially foreseen by King Rama VI as a place for hosting a Thai product expo. It had later transformed into a public park for the Thai citizens. Named after the birthplace of Lord Buddha in Nepal, this place is called the “Lumphini Park.” King Rama VII continued to complete the construction. The Thai government erected a statue of King Rama VI in 1942 to commemorate His Majesty’s kind initiation in establishing this park for the welfare of people. A variety of recreational activities, including many kinds of exercises, martial arts, dancing, and sports, can be seen every day. It’s a great place to unwind, de-stress, and get active.
