Banglumpoo
The name “Bang Lamphu” can be credited to the area’s past abundance in mangrove apples, which are called in Thai “Ton Lamphu.” Previously waterways were Thailand’s primary scenery and mode of transportation until the Western concept of streets was adopted by King Rama IV and further supported by King Rama V. The new cityscape and infrastructure have then influenced the Thai way of life and formed extended trade routes. The district was recognized as an active trading center in Bangkok due to the enhanced convenience in transportation from these paved roads that connected different regions together. The present Bang Lamphu has become much more humble but still offers some tasty street food in the evening. It is within walking distance to Khaosan Road and Phra Athit Road.
