Wat Bowon Niwet Wihan

Wat Bowon Niwet Wihan

Wat Bowoniwet Vihara, or in short Wat Bowon, was built in the reign of King Nangklao or King Rama III. The elaborate and unique architectural style incorporates influences from traditional Thai, Chinese and Western arts. The ordination hall (ubosot) features the Chinese and Western influences on the three connected buildings. The pediment or gable was decorated with glazed porcelain tiles and stucco. The ordination hall enshrines the two principal Buddha images that are respected nationwide—Phra Suwannakhet and Phra Buddha Chinnasri. Moreover, Kings of the Chakri Dynasty were ordained at this monastery.
