Phra Racha Wang Derm (Thon Buri Palace)
Thonburi Palace is the former palace of King Taksin the Great, established in 1767. It is strategi-cally located on the bank of Chao Phraya River and surrounded by many strong forts, of which Wichaiprasit Fort still remains until today. The area was an important trading port during that time. Currently, the palace is converted into the headquarters of Royal Thai Navy, and parts of the compound are open for the public. The architecture of the Two Chinese Residences reflects a combination of Thai and Chinese styles, while King Pinklao’s Residence is the first American-style royal house in Siam. By visiting this place, you can learn all about the history of the Thon-buri Kingdom from beginning to end.
