Wat Prayoonwongsawat

Wat Prayoonwongsawat

In 2013, Wat Prayurawongsawat Worawihan received the Award of Excellence from UNESCO Asia-Pacific Award for Cultural Heritage Conservation. It is a royal monastery with a large round principal chedi that is surrounded by 18 smaller chedis. Built in 1828, the architecture is Thai style, boasting a gable with elegant Indian Rose design. The temple earns its nickname “Wat Rua Lek” or the “Iron Fence Temple” from its iron fences that were imported from England. The Phra Prayura Phanthakhan museum exhibits various artifacts discovered at the site.
