Santa Cruz Church

Santa Cruz Church

King Taksin the Great bestowed a plot of land to a Portuguese community in 1769 which is the time of the early establishment of Bangkok City to build a Roman Catholic church. The current church, constructed to replace the old one, reflects the Neo-Classical and Renaissance styles of architecture. The domed tower is decorated with stained glass to depict stories from the Bible. There are 16 bells, each inscribed with saints’ names in Latin, which chime unforgettable melo-dies.
