Wat Arun Rajvararam
Wat Arun or the Temple of Dawn is an ancient temple built probably before 1656 during the Ayut-thaya Period. It is one of Thailand’s most iconic landmarks along Chao Phraya River. The 67-meter-tall prang or pagoda is intricately decorated with colorful porcelain and glazed pottery from China. The Emerald Buddha used to be enshrined at this temple before relocating to Wat Phra Kaew. Two giant demon statues, or yaksha, guarding at the entrance often appear in Thai media as symbols of Thailand. One giant is green, and the other is white, holding their batons, and both are decorated in the same style as the prang.
